The longest Hungarian bus, the uniquely long IK 293, was completed in 1988. According to the factory's plans, the bus is ideal for suburban and subway functions. The vehicle visited the usual exhibitions and was also on a test run at BKV, where it traveled mostly on the 61E line, but also made a turn on the downtown line 12. It was then sent to Pécs, where it also performed test runs without passengers, and then returned to the factory. It was then renovated, repainted, and a more powerful 280 HP MAN engine was installed, which required the front door to be moved forward. Bus drivers complained about the sluggishness of the vehicle, its large side sway, and the difficult cornering. The front trailer of the double-hinged vehicle has a rigid axle, similar to the push-hinged buses; and the second trailer has a steered axle and a traditional kingpin joint The converted bus was eventually sold to Iran, maybe it's still there now....
