HDX Light Monitor Not Showing

The light monitor isn't showing, how do I make the indicators show if the warning lights are on or not?

These are switches, for various functions, like, lights and things, right?
They all light up when you turn the headlights on.

An individually-lit switch would be a nice way of knowing if a function is active or not, though, I don't think that's how it's supposed to work? or is it?
