i just downloaded it to the homepage and it downloaded just fine

sounds like you really screwed up the instillation. What version of ror are you using and what windows version?

you set it in the settings menu, then restart the game. ive never had it crash on me

you need to change it to full screen in the settings

not everyone is going to just do stuff for you. we all had to learn how to mod ror so you can learn to. all the of the information is there for you to use and learn how to do it

the plugins currently dont work with 2.8. The ogre tools might be updated in the future since it seems they are pretty active on keeping those updated
