I have done this once - it was fine with 3 players on LAN.
I don't know how much further it can scale, but the network speed is probably the bottleneck.

You will have to compile from source.

Note this will compile it for RoRNet 2.45, which is only compatible with dev builds.
If you need a RoRNet 2.44 server for stable RoR, Roll back to an older commit (de6b796 or earlier) before running cmake.
