Make sure you have permissions to modify the zip. I.E. that it's not set to read-only.

If you're on 0.4.8RC4 you should be able to just place character.dds into the packs/mods folder like any other mod. The game reads the contents of folders before zips.

Issue is when i open it. I try to move it, But it wont let me because either: its a compressed "zip" file or there is a issue with it

You can't move files directly from one zip to another, move the dds somewhere else first, then copy it to textures.zip. Or just place the dds in the mods folder like Mike said.
