Version 2020.01 released

After three years and five release candidates, version 0.4.8.0 2020.01 has been released!

Highlights:

Game:

• New version format - Versions will now be labeled <year>.<month>
• New Windows user directory - Documents\My Games\Rigs of Rods

• New setting to enable classic 0.38-era material shaders, available at Settings -> Graphics tab
• New object format (.odef) option to disable shadow casting

• Fixed race submission with a user token set
• Fixed double cursor when using Dynamic/None input grabbing
• Fixed placement of pre-spawned vehicles/loads

Multiplayer server:

• Updated protocol version to 2.42
• Added persistent bans

End of 32 bit support

Starting with version 2020.01, Rigs of Rods will be for 64-bit systems only. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Installing with the itch.io desktop app:

With the desktop app, the latest build will be automatically downloaded and installed
Also, only the changed files will be downloaded instead of the complete game.
If you already have installed previous versions though Itch it will automatically update, no need to (re)install RoR

1. Download and install the itch.io desktop app: itch - Download and play indie games - itch.io
2. Login into the itch.io app.
3. Restart your PC after you have successfully logged in
4. Click this link to install RoR
5. When you launch the game for the first time, it will first install some dependencies
