the game crashes when trying to spawn a bus, but it spawns a car no problem.

Please post your RoR.log and try to spawn the bus again. RoR.log can be found in Documents/Rigs of Rods 0.4/logs.

Do what you did to make the game crash and attach the RoR.log file after.
