How do I change the character model? I want to change it for my own use.

I don't exactly know if you can change the character skins.
But I do know that you can make alternate skins for certain things.
I also think it may require some coding

changing the character model is a complicated process that most of us dont really fully understand

You might not be able to.

You can easily change the character's texture by editing resources\textures.zip\character.dds, but swapping the model, as 4x4convoy said, is far too complicated as it requires rigging the character in Blender.

Where is resources?

It's located where you installed RoR to (usually C:\Program Files\Rigs of Rods)
